Friendly staff, well located to public transportation and easily accessible to the entire Manhattan in a matter of minutes.
Since the hotel was not full the night we stayed, they upgraded us to a very nice, very large room. They never said anything to us (I asked the next day after I saw the room); they just quietly gave us a much nicer room than we'd paid for!
good access to Columbia University, and very comfortable wifi. The room can be very bright, which is very nice for desk work.
Service from person providing advice regarding tours
The location is in a walking distance to the Lincoln Center.
The rate was quite high even for a New York hotel near Christmas time compare with the its quality and price.
pgraded to a beautiful suite
Staff; location; attractive room decor,
Sound proofing not adequate: heard sound of showers in neighboring rooms, conversations in hall.
Have just spent 5 days at the Lucerne Hotel and we were delighted with the hotel,excellent service from the front office staff, the well appointed rooms which were clean and comfortable and very happy with the location which enabled us to do our sightseeing and visits to theatres etc. The food and service were first class too in their adjoining restaurant Nice Martin, try the trout, it is unbelievable. Mainly, being overseas visitors,and it being our first trip to New York, we would like to say a huge thankyou to all the doormen at the Lucerne who looked after us with their knowledge of their city,the quick hunt for a taxi.. Especially when it was raining ..and the welcome we received every time we returned to the hotel .. they and all the great staff really did care for us ! Thankyou Lucerne, we will be back.
The superior deluxe suite was wonderful and worth the price for the two nights that we stayed there. The separate living area with a 2 to 3 person sofa and ottoman gave our party of 4 lots more space. There was also lots of drawer space (3 drawers per person for four persons). The coffee maker, small refrigerator, microwave, silverware and plates provided were useful for small meals and for reheating things. Satisfactory bathroom. The location is ideal, just two blocks from Central Park and one block from Broadway and the Broadway local subway line. Lots of shopping, restaurants and entertainment nearby. The concierge was really helpful.
Closet space was limited. Not much room in the closet for luggage storage and the hanging bar was at waist level so that you could not hang tall clothes without folding them once. No stove top or kitchen sink so you could not cook a meal. No table in living room to eat on. Only table was a writing desk in the bedroom. Bathroom had limited counter space.
I liked the fact that the bedroom could be separated from the sitting room by closing a door. Afternoon nappers or early to bed types were not disturbed by the tv in the next room! Also, free internet is invaluable these days, and the Lucerne had great connectivity. The microwave, refrigerator and bar area were added bonuses. As was the (needed) umbrella in the closet!
Close to subway, in a more residential type area with "locals" around, godd shops and places to eat close by
Our room was a good size except for the bathroom which was tiny Not double glazed so could hear street noise clearly
Centrally located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, close to transport by subway and buses, close to Museum of Natural History, Central Park and wonderful local shops on Broadway, Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues. Added bonus: Riverside Park is two blocks west of the hotel and has a fabulous view and walk, bicycle path and view of 79th street boat-dock, all situated along the Hudson River;
This time, I booked the hotel for my sister and her husband, they liked their stay very much. We will certainly recommend this hotel to family and friends and hope to be back ourselves.
The friendliness of the staff the clenliness of the room and the courtesy. The position of the hotel is key, near the subway, surrounded by good restraunts, easy access to the theatres etc.
